Infeel General Questions
1- Q: What is Infeel?
A: Infeel is a self-adhesive film with thermoformable capabilites.
2. Q: How does Infeel achieve the texture on the material?
A: Through its manufacturing process. After printing is done, embossing with a clear lamination creates the texture.
3- Q: Are the materials anti-bacterial?
A: Yes, it contains anti-bacterial coating. Please note that mold/mildew develops in humid, dark, and improperly ventilated areas and can grow behind any wall covering.
4- Q: How resistant is Infeel?
A: Infeel is very resistant. Most of the materials are manufactured with a clear PVC top coat, which makes them scratch resistant. But, ultimately it will depend on how you take care of the product.
5- Q: How can I clean Infeel surface?
A: You can clean the Infeel surface with a damp soft cloth. Do not use rough materials or detergent. Paperwave and Velvet are the exception due to their surface characteristic.
6- Q: What is the standard roll size?
Series Widt Small Roll (LNFT) Large Roll (LNFT)
Leathe 48” 20 82
Marble 48” 32 164
Paperweave 42” 20 82
Velvet 40” 20 82

7- Q: What’s the durability of Infeel?
A: As long as the product is installed correctly, and it is handled appropriately, it should last for years.
8- Q: Is Infeel a green product?
A: Infeel is recyclable.
Infeel Surface Preparation Questions
9- Q: How smooth should the surface be before installation?
A: Surface preparation is the most important part of the installation process. The smoother the surface the better results you’ll have. If the surface is not completely smooth, it’s recommended to sand it down, apply primer and then install the material.
10- Q: What should I do in case the wall is not smooth?
A: If sanding is not enough to smooth out the surface, then you should plaster the surface and sand it down again, untill the surface is ready for installation. When the surface cannot be treated, then a panel system is recommended.
11- Q: Should I apply Contact Cement for a more durable bond?
A: Yes, Contact Cement (Water Based) is recommended when a heavier material is used, like in the case of the leather series. Solvent based adhesive should NOT be used. It will damage the integrity of the film.
Infeel Installation Questions
12- Q: Can I install Infeel by myself?
A: Yes, but professional installation is recommended to obtain optimum results. Infeel USA will not guarantee product installation performed by anyone other than Infeel USA recommended installers.
13- Q: How do I calculate the amount of material needed?
A: Measure the surface and then add 10% for patterns with no continuation, and 20% for patterns with continuation. You should always consider the width of the material to determine your calculations, and the waste on the seams due to the double cut technique.
14- Q: Can Infeel be installed in an exterior environment?
A: It is not recommended by the manufacturer. Direct exposure to the sun will cause the material to fade.
15- Q: Where can Infeel be applied?
A: Infeel can be applied to any smooth surface, for example: Walls, baseboards, crown moulding, kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, chairs, tables, etc.
16- Q: Can I install Infeel in a bathroom? What about humidity?
A: You can, although some series like Paperweave and Velvet are not recommended.
17- Q: Can I apply Infeel to kitchen cabinets?
A: Yes, you can.
18- Q: Can I apply Infeel to floors?
A: No, infeel is not strong enough to withstand to those conditions.
19- Q: What is the temperature range for installation?
A: The optimum temperature for installation is between 50-80 ºF
20- Q: How do I get air bubbles out?
A: If bubbles are trapped inside film during the application, carefully remove film and reapply. Easily remove small wrinkles with your fingernail by pushing toward edges to redistribute excess material. It is highly recommended to use a heat gun. If bubbles are still found after installation, simply pierce the film at the bubbles edge forcing the air out of the opening with your finger or squeegee.
21- Q: Does it have any shrinking after installation?
A: If installed properly there should be no shrinkage. Also, it’s recommended to use a Water Based Primer to treat the surface to prevent the material from shrinking.
22- Q: Will the material become loose from the surface?
A: Most of the time this is the result of poor installation technique. You need to apply pressure for that not to happen, and always treat the surface with the recommended primer.
23- Q: What about the repeat in each series?
A: Some materials have repeats and some don’t, as shown on the catalog. As in real life, some materials will present this characteristic. IE marbles, Innovative series.
24- Q: How do I remove Infeel from a wall?
A: Infeel has a permanent type of adhesive. You shoud expect to see some damage to the wall when detaching the material.
25- Q: Can I put a lamp next to Infeel?
A: If the bulb is no more than 60 Watts, it should be OK. You can also change the incandescent bulb for an LED one. LED bulbs don’t emit heat and are energy savers.
Water Based Primer Questions
26- Q: How fast does the water based Primer dry?
A: That will vary upon certain environmental conditions such as weather and humidity. Generally the primer dries completely in less than 2 hours. Sometimes, if the conditions are optimal, it can dry in less than 1 hour.
27- Q: Should I use Primer on the cabinets?
A: If the surface is really smooth, like Formica, you should use Primer only for the edges.
Infeel Heat Gun Use Questions
28- Q: Can I apply Infeel to curved or three dimensional surfaces?
A: Yes. Finishes can be thermoformed to adhere to curved / three dimensional surfaces such as walls, baseboards, crown moldings, kitchen cabinets, bathroom cabinets, chairs, tables, etc. When applying Infeel to a curved surface, it’s recommended to use the heat gun and also to apply Primer to ensure the material won’t get loose.
29- Q: Why some materials are not thermoformed with heat?
A: Some materials are manufactured with different processes. For example, Paperweave is made from Paper and it cannot be treated with heat.
